The English Department at CSU is a vibrant and diverse place. It is home to poets and linguists, literacy researchers and teacher educators, novelists and literary scholars, composition specialists and writers of creative nonfiction. We share a passion for exploring the multiple and dynamic ways that the English language is used to meet the demands of life in the twenty-first century. The goals of the English Department are to educate, counsel, and support undergraduate and graduate students in English and compositionand support the teaching, research/creative artistry, and service and outreach of the faculty.
This Program Coordinator position functions as a resource and department contact for Colorado State University’s Composition Program and/or Composition Placement requirements and procedures. This position assists the Composition Director through technical support, problem resolution, and training RAM Orientation Advisors and Registrar’s Office staff. This position assists the Department Chair specifically with annual evaluations of faculty (Regular, Special, and Temporary), Tenure and/or Promotion applications and Periodic Comprehensive Performance Reviews.
Three years of experience providing administrative support services, which included daily use of database management systems to complete processes and transactions.

Essential Job Duties
Job Duty Category Tenure and Promotion and Annual Evaluation
Provide essential support for the Chair of the English Department in the process of tenure and promotion, periodic comprehensive performance review and annual evaluation for all faculty and Administrative Professionals.
Document and update yearly the work of the Tenure and Promotion Screening Committee. Provide administrative support for the TPSC members, tracking deadlines, sending email reminders, and scheduling biennial presentations. Email and collect faculty ballots for untenured faculty, documenting comments. Submit all necessary reports for untenured faculty to the College of Liberal Arts, including “Tenure Committee Progress Toward Tenure Report,” and “Chair Reappointment Recommendation.”
Assist department chair in providing faculty member/s applying for tenure and/or promotion a clear understanding of T&P guidelines. Mail the packet of research materials to the 5 external reviewers for each applicant and store letters of review. Compile the necessary materials for the notebook due in the Dean’s Office and create the PDF Binder.
Maintain documents for untenured faculty in their T&P file. Coordinate coaching of faculty.
This position plays a supportive role in the evaluation of Regular, Special, and Temporary Faculty through compilation of review materials into portforlios for submission to the review committee. Files evaluation materials of untenured faculty in keeping with University and College policies.

Process open pool and internal employee searches by posting updated job descriptions in the Talent Management System (TMS). Coordinate with search committee members and hiring authority on application review and workflow through TMS, providing guidance where necessary. Serve as the point person to all applicants providing clear and concise communication. Participate in Hiring Committee meetings. Initiate and follow up on recruitment processes involving the Office of Equal Opportunity (OEO), the OEO Coordinator, TMS, and HR Central to ensure timely completion of workflow. Generate Offer Letters. Coordinate with Assistant to the Chair for employee onboarding.
Compile, assemble and update the Non-tenure-track Faculty Handbook.
Process student employee searches by posting job descriptions in JobX. Coordinate with hiring authority on application, review, and hire. Initiate background checks and follow up on process. Serve as the point person to all applicants. Coordinate with Assistant to the Chair for employee onboarding.

Provide support for the Director of Composition by meeting with students and fielding all calls and emails concerning composition; informing him/her of problems and situations in the program; finding solutions for students with composition problems; advising students of composition placement; composing letters, memos, and emails regarding composition; compile, assemble and update the Graduate Teaching Assistant Handbook. Because all CSU students must satisfy the AUCC 1A Intermediate Writing requirementand the AUCC 2 Advanced Writing requirement, this position meets with a large number of students. Approximately 2400 students register for CO150 in the Fall semesters and 1900 students in the Spring semesters (90-100 sections offered Fall Semesters and 80-90 sections offered Spring Semesters). This position also supports an increasing number of students taking CO3* courses. Approximately 1000 students take CO3* classes each semester. Determine whether students have transfer credit for CO130 and CO150. Determine whether a student has a legitimate reason to be withdrawn from CO130 or CO150. Determine when Composition HOLDs can be removed or when the Composition HOLD date can be delayed. Schedule GTAs for their sections of CO150 for Fall and Spring semesters and schedule the Fall audit sections for new First-Year GTAs. Enter all instructors’ names in SCAIT. Use SCAIT in ARIES to make corrections and additions to the Semester Course Report. Responsible for the administration of grade appeals.

Work with the Center for Educational Access and Outreach to monitor the Composition Placement results of Bridge Scholars. Input overrides for non-native speakers of English into one of our sections of CO150 reserved for ESL students. Using WordPress, maintain our Composition Placement websites.
Answer all phone inquiries related to Composition Placement procedures from students, parents, advisors, CASA and the Registrar’s Office.
