The Field Specialist - Blades will be a US Wind Travel Technician who will be responsible for the internal and external inspections and repair of fiberglass and composite blades, spinners, and nacelles from Category 1 through Category 5.
As the Field Specialist - Blades, you will:
Inspect and photograph internal and external blade damage, document findings, and assemble all associated paperwork as required to be posted for further action by Engineering
Perform composite repairs on internal and external blade surfaces, leading and trailing edge repair while following guidelines provided by Engineering with locations both up tower and down tower
Utilize blade access platforms, boom trucks, and rope access at heights of 300ft or more
Help in all areas of site preparation (i.e. coordination of labor and materials) with minimal supervision
Document all work performed using computer based service reporting procedures
Communicate site status to engineering, customers, and management
Provide maintenance support and preform large component replacement of wind turbine generators
Provide wind turbine generator LOTO (Lock Out & Tag Out) support
High School Diploma / GED
Minimum of 2 years of blade or composite repair experience (OR Graduate of a Wind Tech and/or Composite program)
Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally, as required
Ability and willingness to possess and maintain a valid driver’s license
Ability and willingness to handle repetitive weight - 50 lbs
Ability and willingness to climb towers up to 300 feet
Ability and willingness to work in all weather conditions
Ability to meet specific OSHA weight limits of 250 to 300lbs max
Ability to read and understand electrical schematic drawings
Ability and willingness to read, interpret technical manuals, procedures, and regulations
Ability to write reports, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure
Ability and willingness to work in range of environments to include but not limited to industrial facilities, manufacturing facilities, and power industry facilities
Ability and willingness to be available for rotation shift schedules 24 hours, seven days a week
Ability to read and understand schematic drawings
Ability and willingness to take initiative and work without direct supervision
Composite repair experience
Blade access platforms experience
SPRAT (Society of Professional Rope Access Technicians) Rope access trained
Lightning protection system inspections knowledge
Understand technology of wind blade construction and repair
