Description and Functions

This position supports the Wyoming Department of Education's (WDE)'s Individual Learning division's requirements of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act 2004 (IDEA 2004) in providing technical assistance (TA) and professional development (PD) to district staff through the managing, planning, coordination, and evaluation of improvement activities and division initiatives which facilitate the improved academic and functional outcomes for students with disabilities.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function which may be performed in the job level.
Professional interpersonal communication.
Maintain, monitor and ensure confidentiality throughout all areas of responsibility.
Collaborate with the Continuous Improvement Team, coordinate and manage the state's PD/TA initiatives in collaboration with division goals and the Wyoming State Personnel Development Grant (SPDG).
Monitors programs for compliance with regulations and provides feedback to districts or sub-grantees.
Develops and monitors contracts with professional service providers as needed.
Identifies potential problems and devises solutions.
Disseminates professional trends by presenting information at meetings, workshops, and/or conferences.
Due to changing federal regulations; responsibility to interpret and make recommendations on policy, analyzes impact of federal and state decisions on efforts to organize and develop systems.
Plans and conducts workshops and trainings on state and/or federal programs.
Determines goals in professional development to ensure all job functions can be met.
Will be responsible for other duties as assigned.
Preference may be given to individuals with education, special education and/or leadership experiences.

Project management expertise
Bachelor's Degree (typically in Education)
1-2 years of progressive work experience (typically in Education or Instruction) with acquired knowledge at the level of an Education Program Specialist.
Education & Experience Substitution:
4-6 years of progressive work experience (typically in Education or Instruction) with acquired knowledge at the level of an Education Program Specialist.

Necessary Special Requirements
Applicants may be asked to provide transcripts of any relevant course work at time of interview or hire.
A background check and the taking of fingerprints will be completed through the Wyoming Department of Criminal Justice, the Wyoming Department of Education, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation for every successful candidate.
Travel is estimated at 30%.
